The Port of Montreal welcomed Geneviève Fontaine and Soukaïna Fellaji in October. Welcome to the MPA!

Soukaïna Fellaji, Analyst, Public Financing

Soukaïna Fellaji

Originally from Morocco, Soukaïna decided to immigrate to Canada just over a year ago, and since her arrival, it’s safe to say she’s filled every second of her time! After earning a master’s in economics from the Université de Montréal, she joined the MPA team as a public financing analyst.

Soukaïna previously worked in public finance for the Moroccan government’s Ministry of Economy and Finance. Now responsible for supporting the Port of Montreal team in applying for, monitoring and managing financing, she finds herself on the other side of the fence. “I’m now part of the entity that receives public funding for its projects. It’s a newly created position,” she said. “I hope I’ll have a positive impact on the organization!”

Outside the office, Soukaïa is a lover of nature and green spaces. “It soothes me and recharges my batteries,” she told us. In fact, this passion for nature is one of the reasons she decided to move to Canada, a long-held dream that she is thrilled she made come true!

Geneviève Fontaine, Property Advisor

Geneviève Fontaine

Geneviève Fontaine recently joined the MPA team as a property advisor, bringing with her a diverse professional background. Trained in microbiology, she fell in love with the real estate sector and moved on to sales, property management and operations. “My career path has taken me from one thing to another and has led me to my current position,” she explained. What does she like about the business? “The fact that it’s not routine,” she told us. “I like the diverse range of people I meet, the always changing situations and the constant opportunities to learn, to broaden my skills and knowledge.” In fact, her arrival at the MPA marked a significant change from her previous responsibilities and habits. “The port is a world of its own! Everything I learned on my career path, I’m deconstructing to fit the reality here,” she continued. “And I love it!" This zest for discovery also extends to her personal life. Geneviève is an avid outdoorswoman, whether on the water, in her kayak, or on Quebec’s mountain trails. She is committed to climbing as many peaks as possible, with a particular fondness for Gaspésie, where her mother was born. ‘I’m someone who likes to follow her passions. It’s the journey that matters, not the destination!”
