Three new colleagues joined the MPA team in September. Let’s get to know them better! Welcome aboard Chad, Adam and Rhodelyr!

Chad McLarnon, Director, Strategy

Chad McLarnon

Chad brings us 25 years of experience in transportation, from aviation to rail via the automotive, and now marine sectors. “I’ve been in the transportation industry since I was a kid,” he told us. His first job was as a flight attendant! Drawing on the expertise he has been gaining ever since in strategy, business transformation and change management, his role at the MPA will be to serve as a “conductor and catalyst to execute the strategic plan,” he explained. Hands-on, his role will be to support and equip the various MPA departments to successfully carry out their projects and initiatives, and achieve their strategic objectives. On the personal front, Chad shared that he is a history buff, who wasted no time in immersing himself in the history of the Port of Montreal... In addition to his business management licenses and certifications, he holds a bachelor’s degree in anthropology, and has an affinity for all things related to archaeology and prehistory. “The quest for artifacts to understand the past is like putting together the pieces of a puzzle to guide the present and orient the future.”  But Chad is also a man of many passions. Not only is he a multi-instrumentalist in a range of styles from blues, jazz, rock and country to world music, he also enjoys soccer, hiking and pickleball, in addition to exotic plants.

Adam Hammami, Supervisor, Rail Operations

Adam Hammami

Adam took up his position as Supervisor, Rail Operations last June, but his experience in the rail industry spans more than two decades, with most of his career spent with CP. What excites him about the business? “I love the constant challenge of rail operations,” he told us. “To keep trains running on time and operations running smoothly, all the links in the chain have to work together.” So, track maintenance crews, planning, mechanics, rail companies, terminals... “Everything has to be coordinated.” As part of the Rail Operations team, Adam plays a key role in freight logistics management. “I have to make sure that deadlines are met and that clients and partners receive their goods, locally and internationally alike. That means developing a solid plan with the yardmasters to ensure that train crews run safely and efficiently.” Talk about logistics! When it comes to free time, Adam told us that much of it is devoted to his two young children. “I’ve been going from arena to arena for a year now,” he said. “But it’s fun to see my son doing what he loves.” Especially since he’s following in the footsteps of his dad, who’s been playing field hockey for over 20 years.

Rhodelyr Jean, Web Developer

Rhodelyr Jean

Originally from Haiti, Rhodelyr began his IT career in his native country before making the leap to Quebec, where he chose to complete a DCS in programming analysis. “It opened doors for me,” he said. “And it also allowed me to refresh my knowledge. Technology changes rapidly! There are always new methods and things to learn.” What does he love about his field? “I love the creativity that comes with being a programmer. We develop the systems that people use. There are no limits!” At the MPA, he’s in charge of web application development. His first project is the trucking portal, which makes it possible for truckers to get terminal waiting times so they can better plan their trips. Outside of work, Rhodelyr told us how much he loves music. Whether it’s Kompa, Zouk, R&B, rap or even country, “I listen to music all the time, even when I’m working! It helps me,” he said. As for adapting to life in Quebec, he frankly admitted that it was tough at the start. “I arrived in the middle of February, which was a shock!” Fortunately, Rhodelyr got used to it and even started learning to skate! He confided that this ability to adapt is one of his strong points. “From my decision to immigrate, going back to school and my career path, I’ve always kept evolving. That’s a source of pride for me.”
