The team is growing! We invite you to get to know a bit more about the people who make up the MPA team. Introducing our latest recruits: Alejandro Bule, Daryl Rankin and Vincent Lahaye!

Alejandro Bule, Payroll Manager

Alejandro Bule

Originally from Venezuela, Alejandro brings 15 years of payroll experience to the MPA team. With a bachelor’s degree in industrial relations, membership in the National Payroll Institute and work experience with ABB Canada, Agropur Cooperative, Rio Tinto and Pratt & Whitney Canada, Alejandro finds this sector interesting for a lot more than the financial aspect. “I like numbers, IT and accounting, but I’m also very interested in the human aspect, like actually talking to employees, dealing with benefits, knowing the different collective agreements and interacting with unions and stakeholders.” No wonder he chose to do a certificate in human resources management at HEC Montréal! “It’s a really dynamic field,” he said. “I’m especially proud of my career path. It’s not easy to arrive in a new country where you don’t know the language, to establish yourself, to train and to succeed in demanding assignments.” One of his short-term objectives at the MPA is to review work methods and revamp documentation and procedures, and also to participate in team development and training. In his spare time, Alejandro loves to visit cities. His best trips are on foot, criss-crossing the world’s urban streets and neighborhoods. Any favourites? Sydney, Melbourne and, of course, Montreal, which he is still exploring!

Daryl Rankin, Supervisor, Road and Railway Networks

Daryl Rankin

Daryl comes to us from CP, where he managed a territory stretching from Blainville to Montreal, after holding an array of jobs in the trucking, masonry, mining and construction sectors, and working as a security guard at music festivals, a bouncer in nightclubs when he was just 17, and playing soccer for over 25 years, notably for Concordia University! What does he like best about his new job? “The regular hours that let me have a family life,” he said. That’s a huge plus when you have a five-month-old baby at home! One of his short-term projects for the Port is to implement new practices and procedures for rail track management at the Port. “We’re currently using regulations inherited from CP, CN or Transport Canada. Our project is to standardize it all and put in place practises that are better adapted to our situation and more uniform.” Welcome to the MPA, Daryl!

Vincent Lahaye, Project Manager

Vincent Lahaye

A graduate of ÉTS, before joining the MPA Vincent gained six years of experience in the construction industry, notably as site supervisor for rail projects. How did his early days go at the Port of Montreal? ”I started two weeks ago and I already have two projects. It’s going fast!” His current mandates include designing new self-contained stations to optimize water management on the terminals, as well as track lighting. What does he particularly like about the Port? He talked about the diversity of fields that coexist on the infrastructure side. “Between rail, civil engineering and dock management, no two days are the same! Each project has its own technical character.” On a personal note, Vincent admits to being a true Cartesian through and through... “I like things to be well planned and organized, and I don’t leave anything to chance,” he said. What a crucial quality for an engineer! As for his hobbies, he told us that he’s a big fan of outdoor sports, so those hobbies include river kayaking, rafting (where he’s already worked as a guide) and cross-country skiing. What’s next? He’d like to try mountain biking!
