On Saturday, May 18, the Port of Montreal welcomed the first cruise ship of the 2019 season, the Zaandam, heralding the launch of a new year of thriving operations.

No fewer than 113,000 cruise passengers and crew members are expected in Montreal in 2019. The Port of Montreal will welcome four new vessels: the Zaandam (Holland-America Line), the Riviera (Oceania Cruises), the Viking Sun (Viking Ocean Cruises) and the Ocean Dream (Maritime Holding Group).

The MPA is particularly pleased with the growing success of St. Lawrence and Great Lakes cruises, and the boom in this tourism sector that is bringing major economic benefits to Montreal.

"The undeniable success of cruises in Montreal is the direct result of sustained collaborative efforts. The 2019 season looks very good, especially with the arrival of four new ships in Montreal and a growing interest in cruises to the Great Lakes. In addition, this year we will fully complete Terminal 2 at the Port of Montreal’s Grand Quay, a unique urban space in the city that is now open to the public," said Sylvie Vachon, CEO of the APM
