Innovating to better collaborate

The aim of the project is to build a fully connected port community system platform. This open electronic platform will make it easier for all stakeholders to share information securely and in real time, centralizing the data needed to keep the supply chain running smoothly. Freight forwarders, agents, shipping lines, railways and operators will benefit from instant access to operational data, enabling them to better coordinate ship arrivals and optimize their operations, while ensuring data integrity and availability.

Significant competitive advantages

This new tool offers a decisive competitive edge. Not only does it make it possible to improve delivery punctuality and reliability, but also to reduce operating costs by automating and optimizing port processes. By supplying greater visibility of freight flows, the system will provide the ability to better plan logistics resources and improve client service. Optimizing and centralizing the intake of all types of transaction-related documents will largely eliminate the number of stakeholders and operations.

“Support from the NTCF and setting up this project will enable us to develop a more robust, efficient, open and transparent supply chain. We have every confidence in the benefits this initiative will bring to the logistics players involved, strengthening the Port of Montreal’s competitiveness on an international scale,” said David D’Amboise, Chief Operations Officer at the MPA.

At a total cost of $6.6 million, the project will be implemented by the Montreal Port Authority together with several external stakeholders and our operators. The tool’s official launch is set for 2027.
