Sustainable tourism plays a key role in preserving the beauty and vitality of the St. Lawrence River and its surroundings.

The Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal holds the GreenStep label — Level 3, recognizing concrete actions taken toward sustainability.

It is the only Canadian sustainable tourism certification accredited by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC). This approach makes it possible to measure implemented initiatives and reinforces a commitment to delivering a tourism experience that combines responsibility, innovation, and respect for the environment.

A Tangible Commitment

The Grand Quay of the Port of Montreal has also signed the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Commitment, with the objective of improving its sustainability performance by 2030. This initiative is based on the implementation of concrete actions and the rigorous monitoring of progress to achieve measurable results.

Launched in June 2021, the Sustainable Tourism 2030 Commitment supports tourism businesses and destinations in enhancing their social, cultural, environmental, and economic performance. It is aligned with GSTC-recognized criteria and contributes to the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals.
