Under the direction of the IT Manager, the operations and architecture Manager will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day operations and establishing operations processes to meet business needs. The incumbent will be responsible for defining, designing, implementing and delivering IT architecture project solutions and internal initiatives to fulfill the organization’s various business requirements and strategic directions. The selected candidate will be responsible for organizing, monitoring and guiding his team’s activities in an effort to meet established deadlines within budget parameters, while ensuring the full satisfaction of clients.

The key responsibilities in this position will include:

With regard to operations:

  • Managing daily IT operations including Helpdesk support operations;
  • Assigning appropriate activities and deadlines to members of the IT team under his supervision, overseeing work activities and outlining general performance standards for team members;
  • Managing the deployment and maintenance of replacement plans for computers, servers, network updates and user support activities;
  • Taking responsibility for ensuring that initiatives and activities are planned, coordinated and delivered in a timely manner;
  • Ensuring that internal processes are followed and that appropriate governance and accountability mechanisms are in place to support the effective execution of IT objectives;
  • Collaborating in the annual IT budget process;
  • Managing relationships with suppliers with regard to outsourcing and service-delivery contracts for all aspects of services and architecture;
  • Providing high-quality services and availability for workstations, software, network components, wireless and telephone services;
  • Coordinating technological initiatives for which the incumbent is responsible and working in close collaboration with relevant parties to ensure optimal and effective change management:
  • Developing and deploying user-service procedures and work methods and completing appropriate training;
  • Providing ongoing monitoring of team-member performance in relation to benchmarks;
  • Providing coaching and operational mentoring to establish and maintain a high-level team and to foster a positive work environment;

With regard to architecture:

  • Establishing and managing the organization’s IT architecture: computer systems, business solutions, telecommunications, etc.;
  • Providing a company-wide information and data architecture model (software and hardware) that promotes interoperability, component re-use, performance and efficiency;
  • Ensuring that the progress plan for the use and overall integration of tools optimizes efficiency and consistency;
  • Managing IT resources to plan, design and implement the functional architecture required to deliver projects;
  • Periodically identifying, applying and revising architecture integration strategies, standards and best practices within the solution lifecycle and ensuring that they are aligned with the organization’s needs and capabilities;
  • Identifying innovative initiatives and practices, including new operating procedures, business models and cloud-based services.

 

Qualifications

  • Undergraduate university degree in computer science, engineering or a related field;
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including 5 years in management;
  • Excellent working knowledge of the following technologies: MS Windows, MS SQL and SAN servers, Brocade and Cisco Switches, MS Exchange and Fortinet firewalls;
  • Knowledge of the AS-400 (iSeries model) is considered an asset;
  • ITIL certification or experience is considered an asset;
  • Ability to multitask and maintain an organized approach;
  • Thoroughness, adaptability, multitasking and organizational skills;
  • Ability to provide after-hours support as required;
  • Excellent knowledge of physical infrastructures and communication networks;
  • Bilingualism.
