Termont, Bunge and Véco Mobilité win the first Port of Montreal Excellence Awards
Press release
Montreal, April 23, 2026 — The Port of Montreal presented its very first Excellence Awards this morning during a ceremony held at the Port of Montreal Tower. Designed to highlight the achievements of companies within the port community that generate real impact on operations, the environment and commercial performance, the Sustainable Horizon Award, Awareness Award and Rudder Award were respectively presented to Véco Mobilité, Termont and Bunge.

Sustainable Horizon Award | Sustainable Development
This award recognizes an organization that has made a significant contribution to protecting the environment and promoting sustainable development through its port or logistics activities.
The Sustainable Horizon Award was presented by Valérie Wells, Senior Director, Legal Affairs and Corporate Secretary at the MPA, to Véco Mobilité for a project focused on electrification and optimization of port-related ground transportation.
The Véco project aims to modernize and electrify ground transportation for cruise passengers and pilots at the Port of Montreal through an integrated technological platform. It transformed a previously disorganized service into a structured, reliable and measurable operation by optimizing trip management, professionalizing drivers and prioritizing electric vehicles.
Results include a significant improvement in customer experience and punctuality (less than 1% delays), a major reduction in GHG emissions (up to 77% of trips using hybrid or electric vehicles), and tangible economic benefits for the local ecosystem.
Awareness Award | Occupational Health and Safety
This award recognizes an organization that has made a significant and lasting contribution to improving occupational health and safety.
The Awareness Award was presented to Termont by Marie-Claude Galarneau, Chief Human Resources and Strategy Officer, for its project aimed at improving truck driver safety.
Termont’s initiative eliminates a major health and safety risk related to the presence of truck drivers on foot in handling areas by automating operations using RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) technology and onboard cameras.
Deployed in two phases (export then import), this solution allows RTG crane operators to identify and position containers autonomously, without driver intervention, with drivers remaining safely in their cabs. This transformation reduces exposure to heavy equipment while improving operational fluidity, precision and overall performance.
Rudder Award | Commercial Performance
This award recognizes an organization that has helped improve the commercial performance, efficiency and competitiveness of the Port of Montreal.
The Rudder Award was presented by David D’Amboise, Chief Operations Officer, to Bunge for its sustainable growth and operational excellence.
In a context of strong volume growth and supply chain disruptions, the organization maintained fluid, reliable and safe operations. Through rigorous planning, continuous process optimization and close collaboration with the Port of Montreal and its partners, it successfully absorbed increased traffic without compromising service quality.
Targeted improvements optimized truck unloading operations, while strengthened technical support and engineering enhanced equipment reliability and overall performance. The result: increased volumes, improved operational performance and greater reliability, directly contributing to the port’s competitiveness and resilience.
