Équipe de l'environnement du Port de Montréal

On the occasion of World Environment Day, we invite you to get to know the members of our team! Diverse backgrounds, complementary expertise, and a shared ambition: contributing to a more sustainable port.

Martin Chiasson

Martin Chiasson, Director, Environment

After building his career with major organizations such as CDPQ, Jacques Cartier and Champlain Bridges Incorporated, and Golder Associates, Martin joined the MPA and now oversees the implementation of the Port’s environmental strategy. His role includes defining strategic priorities, ensuring environmental compliance across the Port’s territory, and supporting teams in delivering sustainable projects. What motivates him most? “Working with all departments to contribute to a more sustainable organization that values the environment, people, and a resilient business model.”

Carole Nuttall, Environmental Advisor

A geologist by training, Carole will soon celebrate her 16th anniversary with the MPA. She is involved in a wide range of files related to environmental compliance, construction projects, soil and groundwater management, environmental lease clauses, and tenant relations. What drives her? “Bringing together Port partners and tenants to encourage the sharing of best practices and accelerate progress toward common goals.”

Sarah-Claude Bourdeau-Goulet

Sarah Claude Bourdeau-Goulet, Environmental Advisor

A member of the team for the past few months, Sarah holds a degree in civil engineering from Polytechnique Montréal and has dedicated recent years to climate change issues. Her work focuses on stormwater management, greenhouse gas inventories, and the implementation of the energy management system. “My experience in the field of climate change has convinced me of the urgency to act: concrete actions are essential to alter global warming trajectories.”

Pierre-Luc Bastien, Environmental Advisor

With a bachelor’s degree in environmental geography and a master’s degree in mechanical engineering specializing in sustainable design, Pierre-Luc joined the team in 2020 after working for one of the Port’s terminal operators. His responsibilities include environmental compliance, project assessments, risk management, air quality, and the energy transition. What inspires him most? The opportunity to contribute to a vital industry: “Maritime transportation has been a cornerstone of our societies for millennia. It’s exciting to think that I can contribute to its evolution, however modest my contribution may be.”

Audrey Laprade

Audrey Laprade, Environmental Advisor

For more than three years at the MPA, Audrey has leveraged her geological engineering background and expertise in environment and sustainable development across a wide range of files, from waste management and contaminated soils to biodiversity and environmental certifications. Passionate about nature in urban environments, she particularly enjoys developing biodiversity-focused projects: “Naturalizing and enhancing our spaces is a concrete and accessible action that both improves the environment and beautifies the city-port interface.”

Christine Piché, Environmental Support Technician

On June 15, Christine will celebrate her 28th anniversary with the MPA. Over the years, she has worked in several departments, allowing her to develop a broad skill set and contribute to numerous committees, including those focused on sustainable development. Today, she supports the Environment team in its administrative activities and helps coordinate the Sustainable Development Committee. What she values most about her role? “The feeling of making a positive contribution to the environment, even on a small scale.”
