Tara Brown, Director of Finance

With a proven track record that includes 14 years leading teams in fixed assets, construction projects and operational finance, Tara joined the MPA in January 2023. What excites her most in her field is making it change and grow.  "A lot of people narrow finance down to transactional accounting," she told us,”but what interests me is how to modernize the role and make business processes and technologies evolve. We can be creative and innovative even in the things we do every day."

To do so, Tara readily admits to being a team player first and foremost. "I'm not someone who would want to do a job alone in my office," she continued.  "It's empowering to move forward together and create meaning in our daily work while linking it to the organization's strategy.”

This zest for teamwork is also evident in her personal life, as even when she was younger, she always preferred team activities. For example, she played a lot of basketball and was an active caregiver for the varsity football team. Now she is happy to see her daughter share her childhood passion for basketball.

Turning to other future projects, she has a wish list of trips that includes Greece, Italy, Paris and Iceland, all of which she is planning to take with her close-knit family.
