The Juno Marie goes electric
Dedicated to bunking vessels 365 days a year at the Port of Montreal, the Juno Marie just embarked on a more sustainable future!
After many months of work, a new shore power system was recently installed in Section 73 of the Port of Montreal, specifically for the Juno Marie. This small, year-round oil tanker’s mission is to supply fuel oil to any vessel using our terminals. From now on, she’ll be able to stay connected to electricity at all times when she’s not refuelling other ships!
The new system was officially inaugurated on January 26, when the Juno Marie was connected for the first time.
The system installed (600 V/200 A) is similar to the other services for ships wintering at the Port of Montreal, bringing the number of connections available on our quays to 42. This initiative is in line with the MPA’s objective of implementing more electrical systems for ships and accelerating the energy transition, en route to a more sustainable future to achieve carbon neutrality by 2035.
