It gives me great pleasure to wish you all the very best for an exceptional 2024.

The year 2023 was certainly a memorable time for the Port of Montreal, marked by several inaugurations representing the culmination of years of hard work, meticulous planning, design and construction. These include the Port of Montreal Tower, an architectural gem in the heart of Old Montreal; the Vickers overpass in the Viau sector, developed to optimize truck flow and reduce its impact on the local road network; and our project to boost rail capacity, geared to optimize rail freight traffic.

With the community around us at heart, we have built these projects with sustainable components and integration into the urban landscape. For example, you’ll find an artistic concept inspired by the work of painter Guido Molinari and architectural sails on the overpass. These projects are forward-looking investments. They will benefit future generations, opening the way for our citizens to enjoy a new, emblematic building along with infrastructures that will enable us to maintain a quality of service and serve Quebec and Canadian businesses, and the population as a whole, all the more effectively.

Our mission is to ensure the efficiency of port operations and the reliability of the supply chain, not only today, but for decades to come.

As a port authority, our role goes beyond daily operational management. Changing consumer habits, population growth, climate change and the emergence of new technologies are all factors that can influence supply chains, calling for constant adaptation of infrastructures. Our mission is to ensure the efficiency of port operations and the reliability of the supply chain, not only today, but for decades to come. This is our duty, and we’re proud of it! Our projects are moving head, with our Contrecœur expansion project at the forefront.

This Logbook is a gateway to our activities. Here, you’ll learn more about the people who work in the port industry, the products that move through our facilities, the organizations we support and the issues that fuel our daily thinking. You will gain insight into the maritime heritage that permeates our daily lives, right down to the words and expressions we use.

Enjoy reading this Logbook, which reflects our enduring commitment to all!
