Cruises: Lasting partnerships and special occasions to celebrate
The Port of Montreal is very pleased to report that Montreal is becoming one of the top cruise destinations on the St. Lawrence and Great Lakes itinerary! Several international cruise lines have confirmed their enthusiasm for the city. This season was marked by many events celebrating the arrival of the 25,000th, 30,000th and even 40,000th passenger on the Regent Seven Seas, Viking and Oceania cruise lines since these lines began calling at Montreal!
On September 19, our teams welcomed the 25,000th Regent Seven Seas passenger during the stopover of the Seven Seas Grandeur: Ms. Peggy Nathan, who boarded in New York on September 9 for a 10-day cruise to Montreal. For the record, Peggy Nathan is a very loyal Regent Seven Seas cruise passenger, having logged 3,900 nights with the company. That’s over 10.5 years! The upscale Regent Seven Seas Grandeur that Ms. Nathan boarded was built in 2023 and can accommodate up to 746 passengers. On September 27, Viking Cruises welcomed its 30,000th passenger with the arrival of the Viking Neptune: Mr. and Mrs. Howell, who boarded the ship in New York on September 24 for a 12-day cruise. Viking Cruises, whose ships can carry up to 930 passengers, is a luxury cruise line. Viking Cruises made its first call to Montreal in 2016 with the Viking Star. The arrival of the Viking Mars will mark the company’s 19th stopover in Montreal. On October 6, the 40,000th Oceania Cruises passenger will be applauded when the Nautica docks, bringing Mr. and Mrs. Hemingway, who boarded in Boston on September 25. Oceania Cruises is part of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings Ltd., along with Norwegian Cruise Line and Regent Seven Seas Cruises, ranks high in the luxury category. The ship the couple boarded, the Nautica, has a capacity of 684 passengers.
