Operations resume at the Port of Montreal
Port activities have resumed on all Port of Montreal terminals since Saturday, November 16 at 7 a.m., pursuant to the order issued by the Canada Industrial Relations Board.
The efforts of our teams and logistics partners are focused on clearing the backlog and restoring the smooth flow of the supply chain. While 9 ships are currently docked, over the past week teams have handled a total of 7 container ships representing nearly 30,000 TEUs (20-foot equivalent units), 137 grain wagons for Canest and Viterra, not to mention the 2,300 truckers who visit the terminals daily.
In all, 18,000 TEUs of imported goods are currently on the ground, of which some 100 contain critical and medical equipment, as well as 28,000 linear feet of rail need to be processed. During the week, 10 container ships are expected to arrive, for a total of 34,000 TEU containers.
Our goal is to ensure the smooth flow of operations in the upcoming days and weeks, so that the supply chain is fully restored and back up and running just in time for the holiday season, a pivotal time when businesses count on the efficiency of the logistics and port ecosystem more than ever.
