Marie-Claude Galarneau

Chief Operating and Transformation Officer

Marie-Claude Galarneau joined the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) in July 2021 as Director, Legal Affairs. In May 2023, she was appointed Vice-President, Talent, Culture and Strategy , then Executive Vice-President, Human Resources and Strategy in April 2024. In this role, she was responsible for the strategic planning, human resources and the employee experience, later expanding to include occupational health, safety and well-being, strategic intelligence and innovation. In 2026, she was appointed Chief Operating and Transformation Officer. She oversees several organizational functions, including digital transformation, information technology, governance, strategic projects, human resources, health, safety and well-being, as well as procurement. Her responsibilities will subsequently expand to include contracts, legal affairs and the corporate secretariat. She also ensures the integration and performance of the organization’s core selling, general and administrative (SG&A) functions.

A member of the Quebec Bar since 2006, she worked in the rail transportation industry at Bombardier Transportation for the first 15 years of her career. Before joining the MPA, Marie-Claude quickly specialized in corporate law and commercial management. She has served as Contract Manager, Head of Commercial Management for the Americas Division and also as Interim Vice President.

Her expertise in commercial negotiations, contract interpretation and management of major transactions as well as her participation in project reviews, bids and negotiations has allowed Marie-Claude to develop her managerial, communication and influence skills with multiple stakeholders. Early in her career, she had to manage multidisciplinary teams and exercise her leadership as a member of the executive committees.

Marie-Claude is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Conseil du patronat du Québec (CPQ).
