Chief Human Resources and Strategy Officer

 Marie-Claude Galarneau

Marie-Claude Galarneau joined the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) as Director, Legal Affairs in July 2021. In May 2023, following a few months spent with the Contrecoeur project management team, she was appointed Vice President, Talent, Culture and Strategy, and became responsible for the implementation and execution of the strategic plan as well as all aspects related to the management and development of resources and employee experience. She was promoted to Chief Human Resources and Strategy Officer in April 2024, adding to her role occupational health, safety and wellness, as well as business intelligence and innovation.

A member of the Quebec Bar since 2006, she worked in the rail transportation industry at Bombardier Transportation for the first 15 years of her career. Before joining the MPA, Marie-Claude quickly specialized in corporate law and commercial management. She has served as Contract Manager, Head of Commercial Management for the Americas Division and also as Interim Vice President.

Her expertise in commercial negotiations, contract interpretation and management of major transactions as well as her participation in project reviews, bids and negotiations has allowed Marie-Claude to develop her managerial, communication and influence skills with multiple stakeholders. Early in her career, she had to manage multidisciplinary teams and exercise her leadership as a member of the executive committees.

Marie-Claude is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Comité sectoriel de main-d’œuvre de l’industrie maritime.
