Paul Bird
President and Chief Executive Officer

Appointed President and Chief Executive Officer of the Montreal Port Authority (MPA) in June 2026, Paul Bird has more than two decades of experience in mining, maritime commerce and business development.
Since joining the MPA in 2020, Paul Bird has played a key role in advancing the Port’s commercial development and major infrastructure projects, including the Contrecoeur container terminal expansion. Before being appointed President and CEO in June 2026, he served as Senior Director of the Contrecoeur project, Vice President, Contrecoeur Project, and Chief Commercial Officer.
Throughout his career, Paul Bird has built strong partnerships and led large-scale initiatives across the mining, rail and port sectors. His executive experience includes senior leadership roles at Polycor Inc., ArcelorMittal Mining and the Port of Montreal, where he has contributed to business development, strategic partnerships and long-term growth. He is committed to advancing innovation, digitalization, ESG and alternative energy initiatives to enhance operational performance and customer experience while supporting the Port’s competitiveness.
A geologist by training and a graduate of the Université du Québec à Montréal, Paul Bird is a member of the Boards of Directors of the MET - Montreal Metropolitain Airport, and of the Chambre de commerce et d'industrie de la Rive-Sud.
