Confronting the COVID-19 crisis

MPA workers on the front line

In its determination to safely fulfill its core mission to supply businesses, consumers and industries with goods, raw materials, food and other products, throughout 2020 the MPA endeavoured to support and protect its most valuable asset, its workforce. Several measures were put in place to ensure workplace health and safety and business continuity:

  • Implementation of exemplary health measures.

These included disinfecting all work areas, strict adherence to all health regulations in force, wearing masks, social distancing, floor markings and redesigning common areas.

  • Teleworking as of March 2020 for those employees who could.

Travel was and remains rigorously supervised to ensure maximum control of contacts between employees.

  • Work/Family/Personal Life Charter.

To promote the well-being and engagement of its employees, the MPA set up access to telemedicine, flexible working hours, access to flexi-time and the possibility of purchasing additional vacation days. For this, the Réseau pour un Québec famille non-profit organization awarded the MPA its Concilivi seal.

  • Review of operational work schedules.

To enable optimal distancing between employees obliged to work on site, schedules were revised, reduced and spaced out to allow everyone to perform their job while maintaining a safe distance.
