Building the future: infrastructure projects to better support future growth

Temporarily halted in the spring following government directives, the MPA’s repair and construction work resumed in May.

The teams continued to work in full compliance with all the requisite health measures on the main projects, namely the redevelopment of Bickerdike Terminal, the completion of Viau Terminal, the rehabilitation of berths 25 and 27, and the construction of the Grand Quay observation tower. Altogether $108 million was invested in the various construction projects, making it possible in the coming years to better accommodate the increase of diversified cargo transiting the Port of Montreal. Another of the major projects that will drive the upcoming recovery, the container terminal in Contrecœur, passed several milestones in 2020, drawing closer than ever to the groundbreaking ceremony.
