The year 2023 marked a major turning point for our marine transport organization. It was the long-awaited year of solid achievements, the result of years of planning, design and construction. We completed several emblematic projects, fully embodying our vision for the future. Yet this year was much more than that. It was the foundation we laid for new projects, new avenues and new visions. In short, a year that set our sights firmly on new horizons.  

We began to roll out our Strategic Plan 2023-2027, a framework to guide our actions and direct our achievements over the next five years. This ambitious plan encompasses every aspect of our operations, from the well-being of our employees to our impact on communities, sustainable asset management, environmental preservation, operational excellence, technological innovation and business expansion.

Among our major commitments, we embarked on an initiative to become carbon neutral by 2035 and, in a direct reference to the Kunming-Montreal Accord concluded at the end of COP 15, we pledged to protect 30% of our territory for biodiversity. We also announced massive investments to enhance our urban port interfaces.

We are also bringing equal parts thoroughness and enthusiasm to our major expansion project in Contrecœur, the largest project in the history of the Montreal Port Authority. It will generate major economic benefits while increasing the resilience of the country’s supply chains.

Our new horizons encompass ever-changing global geopolitical challenges, climate change and fluctuating global supply chains. We must constantly adapt to these changes and keep our teams actively engaged.

In this light, the Port of Montreal, anchored in Canada’s urban, economic and social life, at the heart of the central maritime corridor of the St. Lawrence and the Great Lakes, stands as a beacon for our efforts and projects as we aim to meet the needs of our stakeholders all the more effectively.

We are developing these new horizons on a daily basis, in collaboration with all the players in the logistics ecosystem, our partners, our clients, port workers, our personnel and the members of our Board of Directors.
