The St.Lawrence Award presented to Sylvie VAchon

Montreal, October 29, 2014 - We are very proud to announce that Sylvie Vachon, president and CEO of the Port of Montreal, has won the St. Lawrence Award conferred by the St. Lawrence Economic Development Council (SODES). It was presented to her yesterday on October 28 at the National Assembly as part of Quebec Marine Day.
The St. Lawrence Award recognizes individuals' outstanding actions related to the marine industry. It is the only award of its kind in Quebec, and has been awarded every year in early autumn since 1992. Nicole Trépanier, president of SODES, took the opportunity to salute Sylvie Vachon's positive impact on the entire marine industry.
Ms. Vachon stated, "It is really an honour for me to accept this award. It is one of the greatest awards you can get in the marine shipping industry because it is awarded by peers. I am really touched and want to express my most heartfelt thanks to the SODES team. This award will certainly make me want to do more."
In a context where marine transportation is targeted as a pivotal engine for Quebec's economic recovery, the recognition of Ms. Vachon's unifying leadership is a reminder that the Port of Montreal has a leading role to play in this important strategy. Read the SODES press release (French only).
