The Port of Montreal launches its Internet microsite in German. It features four pages of pertinent information on the Port of Montreal as well as numerous hyperlinks to the Port’s main bilingual (English and French) website.

The 174th Gold-Headed Cane presentation takes place before about 100 people at Cité du Havre. Capt. Deepinder Singh, of India, is this year’s winner. Capt. Singh is master of the Mississauga Express. The Hapag-Lloyd ship is the first ocean-going vessel to reach the Port of Montreal without a stopover in 2013. Read the press release.

Port of Montreal CEO Sylvie Vachon is the guest speaker at the Traffic Club of Montreal’s International Women’s Day Luncheon.

Port of Montreal CEO Sylvie Vachon and Vice-President Jean-Luc Bédard present a cheque for $3,212 to Carolyn Osborne, general manager of Mariners’ House of Montreal. The amount represents the profits from the sale of more than 800 tuques that the Port had specially made to mark the 150th anniversary of Mariners’ House.

Through the efforts of Stefan Routhier, the Port of Montreal’s deputy harbour master, la Société du parc Jean-Drapeau, which manages two islands between downtown Montreal and the South Shore of Montreal, has agreed to keep its bicycle path open for an extra four weeks this year. The path links the port’s administration offices with the South Shore. The path is now open from April 1 to November 15, much to the delight of the Port of Montreal’s sustainable development committee.

The Port of Montreal and the Port of Antwerp sign a collaborative agreement as part of a trade mission led by Kris Peeters, Minister-President of Flanders, Belgium.

To celebrate its 100th anniversary, CSL hosts a reception at the Iberville Passenger Terminal where its bulk carrier Baie St. Paul is docked. The ship is the first of CSL’s Trillium Class of vessels that set new technological and environmental protection standards.
