Reappointment of Mr. Michel M. Lessard and Ms. Anik Trudel and appointment of a new director to the Montreal Port Authority
Montreal, December 18, 2014 - On the recommendation of the Minister of Transport, Ms. Lisa Raitt, in consultation with the users, His Excellency the Governor General in Council has reappointed Mr. Michel M. Lessard and Ms. Anik Trudel as directors of the Montreal Port Authority.
Mr. Lessard has been a member of the board of directors since 2007 and chair since 2009. Ms. Trudel, for her part, has been a member of the board since 2008 and has served as vice-chair since 2013.
Furthermore, Mr. Lessard is pleased to announce the appointment by the governor in council, on the recommendation of the federal Minister of Transport in consultation with port users, of Ms. Marie-Claude Boisvert as director of the Montreal Port Authority. This appointment is effective December 11, 2014 through to December 10, 2017.
The board of directors and senior management of the Port of Montreal welcome Ms. Boisvert and are pleased that she is joining the port team.
Ms. Boisvert replaces Mr. Yves Filion, who served on the board since May 11, 2007.
Mr. Lessard also announced the departure of Mr. Normand Morin as director. Mr. Morin had served on the board since October 30, 2006. He stepped down on November 27, 2014, at the end of his term of office.
The directors warmly thank Messrs. Filion and Morin for the time, energy and wise advice that they so generously dedicated to good governance of the Port of Montreal.
Ms. Marie-Claude Boisvert has been chief operating officer of Desjardins Business Capital régional et coopératif since 2009. In this capacity, she oversees management of the tax-advantaged Capital régional et coopératif Desjardins fund. She joined the Desjardins team in 1994 and has worked for more than 20 years in business financing in Quebec. During her career, Ms. Boisvert carried out audits, interim management, business turnarounds and consulting engagements for numerous SMEs.
Holder of a Bachelor of Business Administration from the Université du Québec à Montréal and a member of Quebec’s CA order, Ms. Boisvert has been in the top 100 of Canada’s Most Powerful Women in the Corporate Executives category since 2010. In 2011, she received the Prix Performance bestowed by the Réseau ESG UQAM in the manager category.
The board of directors is composed of seven members, all businesspeople from the Montreal area. The three levels of government – federal, provincial and municipal – each appoint a director. The other four directors are appointed by the governor in council on the recommendation of the federal Minister of Transport in consultation with the port’s Users Committee.
